What were the aims of the activity/event?

The Digital Equity SIG is one of the Special Interest Group organised by ASCILITE organised a celebration to coincide with World Access to Higher Education Day 2018 with an emphasis on digital equity access issues in relation to entering and participating in higher education. This activity aimed to:

  • Identify and explore the issues, challenges and opportunities relating to digital equity and to bring these to the attention of ASCILITE members and the broader higher education community
  • Provide guidance and advice to members on issues relating to digital equity
  • Foster the development of initiatives, innovation and practices relating to digital equity
  • Foster collaboration around digital equity projects, publications and practices

What happened during this event?
The conference featured an hour-long session as part of the ASCILITE 2018 conference looking at Access under four themes (in light of our digital equity lens): Access and culture, Access and digital literacy, Access and technology and Access and learning design.
