We are inviting all stakeholders; students, employers, academics and university staff to join us in sharing the findings of the evaluation of the pilot Access to the Workplace programme and launch the 2020 programme.

Research shows that students who come from an access/widening participation background are at a disadvantage in gaining access to the most prestigious graduate schemes and positions.

This year DCU sought to address this issue and developed a very innovative workplace internship scheme for students on the DCU Access programme. Students are guaranteed a paid work placement for a minimum of four weeks and a maximum of twelve weeks during the summer. This means many access students will have completed two internships on graduation, significantly enhancing their employability and widening their social networks.
