This initiative introduces a digital diagnostic test and differentiated mandatory coursework for first-year students at a major research university in Kazakhstan; the aim of the initiative was to identify incoming students’ level of academic preparation and assign them to level-appropriate courses to ensure the persistence and success of all students.
